Class 450 (desiro) Pictures Gallery
My first sight of a moving desiro! as I stepped off my 159 from Waterloo I was very pleasently suprised to see these units slowly coming to a halt at platform 1 Woking station... and I already had my camera to hand!

The leading unit 450 019 was first to enter the station. This shot shows the leading driving car, and the front of the second. The new blue South West Trains suberban livery can be seen to it's full.

The driving cars of both units 016 and 019 can be seen in this shot as they slow down at Woking. The front of the units combines the existing 'express' livery with the new blue background, and the effect works well. the shot also shows off the sparkly clean bogies with pick up's.

This view shows the connection between the two units. This train was an 8 car, 2X 4-car units and is gangwayed throughout, including the cab ends.

One feature I particularly like in the new livery is the doors, plain red doors with orange streaks either side on a blue background really works. You can also see the sign in the left hand door telling passengers not to board the train as it is only a test. The first one entered passenger service just four days later.

One of the internal coach connections of 450019 showing the gangway, attatched cables, side profiling and also coach numbers.

This picture shows the first class section on the desiro units. A seiris of light terquoise dots and first class printed on the windows symbolises the class difference. I much prefere this to the old method of class definition because it is subtle and inkeeping with the livery.

Here is a standard class section of the coach. despite being a little more plain the exterior still looks very good. This view also shows the recess in the roof for the fitting of a pantograph should it ever be needed.

This is the front of 450 019 desiro unit. This train was though to have come from Bournmouth, it stopped at Woking Station for about 5 minets before reversing into the sidings beyond the station. This view shows the driving cab and how the blue livery fits in with the SWT 'flares'.
