Scotrail liveried Turbostar 170 410 enters Aberdeen Station as 158 710, also in Scotrail livery, leaves enteing the tunnel on a service to Inverness on a cold Febuary morning. Note both trains have covers over thier couplings to protect against the cold weather.

170 410 looks rather attractive in Scotrail livery, even clean, afterall the Turbostars are very new additions to the Scotrail stock and certinally look great. This is a good overall view of the livery, which suits the unit very well.

170 410 Departs from Aberdeen to head southbound into the morning sun, it may look a pleasant day, but there was snow on the ground south of Dundee!!!

Here is 170 303, here at Waterloo in Sout West Trains livery. I think these trains are really shown off well by the South West Trains livery.

This nice view shows the side of the cab and the ends of the SWT livery. You can see the streamlining effect on the cab, which completes a very sleek looking train. This view also shows the off the Ribbon glazing used on these units, which is really effective as it provides lot's of windows.

This is the other end of 170 303 at the bufferstops at London Waterloo, it will soon be departing on a service to Salisbury, as shown in one of the units electronic displays! You can clearly see the lighting arangements on the unit in this view... as the units are reletavly new it seems South West Trains are trying to keep them reasonably clean too!

A nice full view of 170 303 stoped at waterloo. Here you can clearly see the length of the unit is rather short at just 2 cars, and so is often seen in multiple, particularly with Class 159 DMU's. Despite being SWT's shortest multiple unit, it is the one with the longest coaches, and it does look nice!

This shot of 170 303 shows it's exhausts for the deisel engines as well as the internal gangway between the two coaches. The unit is not gangwayed on the ends as it is often used on it's own, and as much as anything else, it would ruin the look of a very attractive train!

This is a very bad picture of the interior of the South West Trains Turbostar, however it does show the light and airy layout offered by the ribbon glazing, the electronic display and the 2+2 seating that has been chosen. All in all it looks quite smart. I'll try to get a better interior picture soon.

170 303 is out in the open as it departs London Waterloo for it's service to Salisbury. The finish on the unit is hightly reflective... but looks good. Note the wooden panneling around the 3rd rail to reduce the risk of elecricution if someone was to fall onto or walk across the track.

170 303 enters the station neck as it heads south, you can see the red rear lights in this view... but I hope to get a picture in the future when it is dark to show off the lights better. Smoke is beginning to be emmited from the exhausts as the trian exelerates, rather quickly. It will now run 'fast' to either Clapham Junction or Woking.

170 302 is head to head with 4-Vep 3401 at london waterloo. The 170 is stationed after arriving from Salisbury as the 4-Vep is turned around for a comuter service back down south.

The cab end of 170 302 at Waterloo, beyond it is a 159. You can clearly see the light layout and windscreen wipers here!

This view of 170 302 show some of the interior of the Cab of the 170. It appears to have a hand operated sliding door. Oh, and those windows really are reflective!!!

Here is SWT Turbostar 170 001 at platform 4, Woking working a down service to Sailsbury.

30/07/03
170 001 now leaves Woking Station to head south, it will run fast most of the way to Sailsbury.
