Trains Today

On 24th August 2004 960102 is captured passing Southend Central on what will probly be it's last trip over the national network as it heads from the Old Dalby test track to Shoeburryness for disposal. 67010 hauled the consist of the two converted class 309's, the later (pictured here) shortened to 3 coaches. I never saw the 309's in traffic so this was my one and only chance to get a glimps of them close up, the units looked in fine condition. The future for the 309's looks bleak, there were hopes that at least a coach and possibly a whole unit could be preserved, in the past weeks these hopes have run dry as these two units and the remaining one at eastleigh have been sent to face their end, the coaches from the former First North Western 309 at Eastleigh have been removed by road for disposal.

Thanks for coming to my railway page. This site will focus on the railways, as they are today and also modeling interests. The only rule about this site's content is that it must be post 2000; hence the name 'Trains Today'. I must stress, this does not rule out steam, if it is still in existence (i.e. preservation railways, museums) it is by all means welcome! Most of all I hope you enjoy the site, if you don't, or can think of a way to improve it let me know!

Latest updates!
There are now two whole new galleries on the site for your enjoyment as I have just completed and uploaded the class 423 4-Vep (including units from South West Trains, South Eastern Trains and celebrity BR blue 3417 'Gordon Pettitt') and also the 376 gallery with photos from both the open days at Cannon St held for the units and also their first run in passenger service.
In the modeling section I have updated the page on my 'Cut and Shut CIG', with details of recent depelopments and a photo of the livery now applied to one DTC coach.
I hope you enjoy the updates, and hopefully there will be more soon!
