Songs 80 through 71 begin to bring in some of the year's bigger names.  We see two appearances from Sara Evans, as well as the first appearances of the year from Project 86 and Carrie Underwood.
80. It Only Hurts by Default
Stats: Debuted in the Top 50 on March 29 at #47.  Spent 18 weeks in the Top 50, peaking at #28.  Default continues to be one of the better alternative acts around, and It Only Hurts keeps that trend going.

79. Rough Landing, Holly by Yellowcard
Stats: Debuted in the Top 50 on March 29 at #42.  Spent 14 weeks in the Top 50, peaking at #11.  Spent eight weeks in the Top 25.  Yellowcard managed to create a different sound from the typical pop/punk stuff on this track, and it paid off.

78. Contact by Falling Up
Stats: Debuted in the Top 50 on May 17 at #47.  Spent 17 weeks in the Top 50, peaking at #16.  Spent eight weeks in the Top 25.  Falling Up was an often mentioned name on 2006's chart, and two other singles barely missed out on making the Top 100.

77. Far Away by Nickelback
Stats: Debuted in the Top 50 on February 15 at #37.  Spent 12 weeks in the Top 50, peaking at #9.  Spent ten weeks in the Top 25 and two in the Top 10.  Far Away was a great track that had huge impact in the music world, and it got into the Top 100.

76. You'll Always Be My Baby by Sara Evans
Stats: Debuted in the Top 50 on September 6 at #41.  Has spent 15 weeks in the Top 50, peaking at #8.  Has spent ten weeks in the Top 25.  Sara Evans is one of the chart's top acts, and this late year hit is the first of three of her singles to make the Top 100.

75. Jesus, Take The Wheel by Carrie Underwood
Stats: Debuted in the Top 50 on October 19, 2005 at #21.  Spent 18 weeks in the Top 50, peaking at #5.  Spent 15 weeks in the Top 25 and nine weeks in the Top 10.  Carrie's hit single is only so low because of it's split time between 2005 and 2006.

74. Is It Any Wonder by Keane
Stats: Debuted in the Top 50 on June 28 at #47.  Spent 16 weeks in the Top 50, peaking at #17.  Spent six weeks in the Top 25.  Keane's piano-driven rock does well this year, and they get an appearance in the Top 100 out of it.

73. Something We Can't Be by Project 86
Stats: Debuted in the Top 50 on September 6 at #46.  Has currenlty spent 15 weeks in the Top 50, peaking at #7.  Has spent 10 weeks in the Top 25 and five weeks in the Top 10.  This is another track that could be appearing in 2007's Top 100 as well.

72. Coalmine by Sara Evans
Stats: Debuted in the Top 50 on May 10 at #43.  Spent 17 weeks in the Top 50, peaking at #12.  Spent ten weeks in the Top 25.  Sara's second appearance on the Top 100 continues to show off her incredible talent.

71. Hate Me by Blue October
Stats: Debuted in the Top 50 on March 8 at #50.  Spent 20 weeks in the Top 50, peaking at #20.  Spent six weeks in the Top 25.  Blue October came on in a big way in 2006, and Hate Me was one of the year's defining rock songs.
