| QUESTION ME | ||||||||||||
| This part is for people who want some answers to frequently asked questions. I am not a doctor nor do I have any medical knowledge. This is just information that I have gathered and my opinions. | ||||||||||||
| Is M.E and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) the same illness? Unfortunately there seems to be no definitive answer to this question. Some claim that it is the same illness but it depends on what country you live in as to what it get's called. For example in America they call the illness CFS but do not recognize the term M.E.. Others claim that there is a difference between the two names, but as far as I can tell there are no hard facts to prove either one to be correct it just seems to come down to personal opinion. |

| How do you catch M.E.? For some people there seem's to be no other reason than pure bad luck. Some peolpe belive that CFS is caused by virus infections.A highly stressful event is also thought to contribute. I believe that it could be a mixture of all these factors. More money for research is desperatley needed and until this happen's the full answers many never be found and people will have to continue suffering! |

| How long can M.E. last? There seems to be no set pattern as to how long the illness can last. Some people are lucky and they start to recover six months to a year later, others in three to six years. If your unlucky maybe ten years or if your really unlucky you don't improve no matter what you do. |

| How does M.E. effect children and teenagers? The physical symptoms are exactly the same but there seems to be a lot of difficulty in diagnosing the illness. The child is often thought of as just lazy,moody,depressed,naughty or wanting not to go to school. Children often think of themselves as being unintelligent because they can't keep up at school with their peers due to concentration and memory problems. One of the biggest problems I think occurs is in the child's emotional and spiritual growth. Self-confidence and low self-esteem can be a huge problem and not one that is easily ratified. Speaking from personal experience one of the things I found most difficult was the fact that my friends could go out and do what they wanted and I always felt that I was missing out on everything. However my friends are brilliant and they would visit me at home whether I was in bed or up and about. Many of those friends are still around for me today, supporting me and urging me on. If it wasn't for those friends I would have had little contact with anyone my own age which could easily have led to more problems. |
