Ecco the dolphin is a fairly ok game where you get to control a dolphin in a 3D underwater environment. The graphics are great and the music is quite good too.
However who ever created the puzzles and tasks for the game was either a mad genius or the most stupid person ever born. (Ill go with the latter)
You can get through the first few levels quite easily, but then where you are supposed to go and what you are supposed to do becomes very vague.
Most game puzzle designers out there seem to understand that the puzzles needs to be comprehensible.
i.e. that people have to understand them.
Not this one, this designer has obviously no idea what so ever. Not that I am saying the gamer should be given a step by step guide to the next part of the game, but some decent hints and tips are not too much to ask for.
Overall the game is fun and nicely put together, just don't expect to ever complete it if you buy it. I still haven't found a guide for the game so if anyone has some info on this please e-mail me.
The story line for Ecco the dolphin goes something like this:
"At the dawn of the 30th century, after five hundred years of unity and fellowship, dolphin and man set out from the Earth to explore the great unknowns of space."
But where man and dolphin founded a civilization of peace, others based theirs on strength, conquest, and domination. And, even as man and dolphin went out from the Earth a sinister foe cast envious eyes upon it. for the earth was the prize beyond measure, a pristine world to be cherished or exploited.
But the earth was not defenseless. The mighty Guardian - the greatest creation of dolphin kind - shielded it with its power.
Undeterred, the foe persisted, probing for a moment of weakness they were certain must come.
It was in this time that a dolphin named Ecco arrived named Ecco arrived at the Isle of the Guardian seeking to learn from the scholars of peace, but destined to be the only hope and champion of the Earth."
