rww: MARITAL ISSUES

(The scene opens inside the office of a couple's therapist. The camera is focused on Scott "The Boy" Hellings, sitting in the waiting room. He is wearing his new, black "Raise a Little HELLings" shirt and a pair of jeans. He is wearing a backpack and is reading a copy of Rolling Stone magazine. He looks over at a woman sitting beside him)

HELLINGS-
"You know, as soon as I win the Television Title, my face is gonna be all over the pages of this magazine. I may already be The Canadian Legend and The One and Only UBERstar, but as soon as I win that crummy piece of tin, my fans will be DEMANDING more of me!"

WOMAN-
"You have fans?"

HELLINGS-
"Of course! Don't you know who I am?"

WOMAN-
"No."

(The Boy moves closer to the woman and puts his arm around her shoulders)

HELLINGS-
"Well, would you like to get to know me better?"

WOMAN-
"You realize that I'm here to work through my marriage, right?"

HELLINGS-
"I know. And it is obviously on the rocks, or you wouldn't be here. So, if this doesn't work out, I'll be free."

WOMAN-
"Leave me alone."

(Her husband walks into the room)

MAN-
"What the hell is going on here?"

WOMAN-
"This creep is hitting on me!"

HELLINGS-
"She started it! She can't keep her hands off me! And can you blame her? Look at me! I'm a fine piece of work! Look at my chiselled physique! I look like a god!"

MAN-
"Is this true? Are you hitting on him?"

WOMAN-
"Don't be stupid!"

MAN-(Yelling)
"Oh don't start with me! This is just like that time in Uttica!"

(The two run out of the room yelling at each other. The Boy shouts after the woman)

HELLINGS-
"Call me!"

(The camera cuts to show the receptionist)

RECEPTIONIST-
"Mr. Hellings, we're ready for you."

(The Boy stands up and the camera follows him as he walks out of the waiting room, down a hallway, and into the therapist's office)

HELLINGS-
"Dr. Brown? I'm Scott Hellings, but you probably knew that anyway."

DR. BROWN-
"No."

HELLINGS-
"I get it, you don't want to cause a commotion around here. As soon as people find out that me, The Boy, is here, there is gonna be a huge scene, lots of running around and stuff. That's okay, it's better this way. Besides, I don't like dealing with (making quotation marks with his fingers) 'the little people.' "

DR. BROWN-
"Can we get started?"

HELLINGS-
"Absolutely."

DR. BROWN-
"Well, where is your partner? This is a place for couples you know."

HELLINGS-
"Oh, no problem. Hold on."

(The Boy takes off his backpack and pulls something out. It is a box of a Simoniz pressure washer. The box is dressed in a jersey of the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes and has an Arizona Diamondback baseball hat on top. Dr. Brown looks at him with a confused look on his face)

DR. BROWN-
"What's this?"

HELLINGS-
"This is the other guy."

DR. BROWN-
"What? Is this some sort of joke?"

HELLINGS-
"Does this look like a joke to you? (Motions to the Simon Phoenix prop) You see, the real Simon Phoenix and I aren't exactly best friends. But we do have issues we need to work out. So, I thought since I can't actually get him to come here with me, I thought I would bring a model to work with. I figured we could just pretend this is Phoenix. I know how big you therapists are on roleplaying and stuff."

Dr. Brown-
"I'm sorry, this is a serious clinic and I am a very busy man...."

HELLINGS-(Cutting him off)
"I have a contract."

DR. BROWN-
"A what?"

(The Boy pulls out a piece of paper out of his backpack and hands it over to the doctor.)

HELLINGS-
"You see? You have to help me out."

DR. BROWN-
"Fine! But you only get a few minutes."

HELLINGS-
"Fair enough. But you have to treat this seriously."

DR. BROWN-
"Why?"

HELLINGS-
"This is all a part of my plan. To help me defeat my opponent, I like to understand them first. I need to know what is going on in Simon Phoenix's head, and I figured you could help me out with that."

DR. BROWN-
"Fine, whatever. Can we begin?"

HELLINGS-
"Please do."

DR. BROWN-
"What seems to be the problem?"

HELLINGS-
"Well, we've been hanging out around each other now for like a month and he still pretends not to even know me!"

DR. BROWN-
"And how does that make you feel when Simon pretends not to you?"

HELLINGS-
"It hurts. I mean, how can he not remember who I am? Never mind the fact that I'm the best damn wrestler in Rampage World Wrestling, but I've been involved in every one of his matches now for quite some time. It hurts. I think he knows that I'm better than him and he is just repressing that knowledge, by pretending not to know who I am! He is avoiding his own failure! I know it, you know it, the whole damn world knows it!"

DR. BROWN-
"I'll be the judge of that."

HELLINGS-
"I mean, look at this! (The Boy motions to "Simon Phoenix") Does this look like it can beat me this Friday? Does this look like the next Television Champion?"

DR. BROWN-
"What do you think a champion looks like? What are your own perceptions of success?"

HELLINGS-
"Well, me, obviously! My name is synonymous with success!"

DR. BROWN-
"Don't you call yourself The Boy?"

HELLINGS-
"Yeah, so what?"

DR. BROWN-
"Is it possible you are trying to relate to you inner child?"

HELLINGS-
"What? No! It's just a nickname they gave me when I was training in the Hart Dungeon. I've had it for years!"

DR. BROWN-
"It's not a nickname, it's a label. We don't like labels in this office."

HELLINGS-
"You're not listening to me. You're as bad as Simon Phoenix! See, this is exactly what I'm talking about!"

DR. BROWN-
"Why doesn't he listen to you?"

HELLINGS-
"Because he's too busy worrying about other federations or something."

DR. BROWN-
"You mean, he's seeing other people and that upsets you?"

HELLINGS-
"What? Well, I guess you could say he's seeing other people, but it doesn't really offend me. Sure, I don't really understand it - you would think he would want to be glued to his TV screen watching, intently watching me like everyone else, but I guess that's his decision and I should respect it. Why wouldn't he want to watch more of me though? I mean, I am The Boy and that does mean I am The Best!"

DR. BROWN-
"Again, we don't like labels in this office."

HELLINGS-
"It's not a label! You want to know what a label is? A label is a word like loser! And after this Friday, that will be a label that will follow Simon Phoenix around. I'm gonna beat him and then I'm gonna beat Stupac and I will become the new Television Champion! You see, I have a label too, and it says Scott Hellings: Winner!"

DR. BROWN-
"It's important that you have goals, but what makes you so confident that you will be successful in your quest?"

HELLINGS-
"Because I always win. Because I know that Simon Phoenix can't beat me. Just like I know Stupac can't beat me. They aren't many men out there who know Stu as well as I do. In fact, I can only think of one other. Stu and I used to be friends, we used to be in PSI together. I remember the good old days when he and I were battling with Mercy, involved in some real wars. But Stu turned his back on me. He screwed me over when he was in charge. He knows better than anyone else that I am every bit as good as I say I am. And he knew that if he gave me a chance, I would be a huge star. I would steal his spotlight and Stu didn't want that. Stu always wants to be the main attraction. Well things don't work that way anymore! I'm back and I'm gonna show everyone that I am the best wrestling has to offer! And it starts with Simon Phoenix this Friday, and then it is on to Stupac and his TV Title."

DR. BROWN-
"You know, I think..."

HELLINGS-
"Hey! I'm on a roll, so shut up! You see, Stupac says he doesn't care if it is me or Simon Phoenix who challenges him for his title. But in all actuality, he is afraid of me. Stupac talks about being everyone's nightmare? Well I know what keeps Stupac awake at night. And it's me and the thought of him facing me in the ring. He and Simon Phoenix are exactly the same. Phoenix pretends not to know me, cause he is also afraid of me. He knows that he can't beat me. I would be surprised if he even shows up on Friday. Simon Phoenix knows he can't compete with me, so he had better not even try. But I know he will, because he is like everyone else and wants to just be in the same ring with me. I get that a lot. People love to be in the presence of brilliance and Simon Phoenix is no exception. But rest assured, he cannot beat me and he won't. That TV Title is mine, Stupac is mine, and I will not let anyone, especially a lousy pressure washer, to get in my way!"

DR. BROWN-
"I believe you actually have low self-esteem and make up for it by insulting and hurting others. You also hide behind your accomplishments because they make you feel better about yourself. I think this may go back to your childhood and a possible traumatic episode that you have since repressed as an adult. I want you to tell me about your mother."

HELLINGS-
"My mother? What does my mother have to do with Simon Phoenix?"

DR. BROWN-
"You tell me."

HELLINGS-
"What? No! We aren't here to talk about me, we're here to talk about Simon Phoenix."

DR. BROWN-
"You have to understand yourself before you can understand your relationship with others."

HELLINGS-
"Are you an idiot? I don't have a relationship with Simon Phoenix! Look! It's a freaking' pressure washer I dressed up in a hat and a jersey! How do you have a relationship with that? And the real Simon Phoenix? There is only one relationship he and I share. And it goes like this: there's a number one contender: me....and then there's Simon Phoenix. Simple as that!"

DR. BROWN-
"I think you need to expose yourself more. You need to let Simon know the real you."

HELLINGS-
"I don't need Simon to know the real me. After Friday, I won't have to deal with him anymore. I can focus all my energy on Stupac. Simon Phoenix is a nobody and he always will be! He isn't worth my time! And you're some sort of quack! You suck! People actually pay you money for this? I could do this job! I could sit in a chair and convince them they hate their mothers!"

DR. BROWN-
"I can't hear you anymore. I have gone into my box. When I am inside my box, I cannot feel your insults. Perhaps when you are ready to discuss things in a more rational, calm manner, I will let you into my box and we can discuss our feelings."

HELLINGS-
"What is wrong with you? Have you gone insane? You're just as crazy as that I AM guy! What? Do you think you're from the future too?"

DR. BROWN-
"Your words do not hurt me because I am in the box."

HELLINGS-
"Yeah? Well feel this!"

(The Boy grabs Dr. Brown and punches him. He grabs the chair he was sitting on and breaks it over the doctor's back.)

HELLINGS-
"Did you feel that Dr. Brown? You're an idiot just like that Simon Phoenix! And just like I took you out, I'll take out Simon this Friday! And if Stupac tries to get in my way, I'll break him! (The Boy turns to leave) Oh yeah, I forgot. I'm supposed to pay you. (He picks up 'Simon Phoenix' and places it over the doctor's chest.) Take one of these and call me in the morning."

(The Boy exits the office as the scene fades to black)
