Circles

For Freemasons, a circle represents the Mystic Circle – it is considered to be the peak of enlightenment which
all Masons strive towards. The importance of a circle comes from the ritual of circumambulation around the altar – symbolizing the
sun’s circumambulation when it rises and sets. (Claudy, 1949)

________

In Twin Peaks Agent Cooper’s and Sheriff Truman’s obsession
with donuts parallels this penchant for circles - they start and end thier day with them

________

Something far more important – deep in the woods, Cooper found the circle of trees known as Glastonberry Grove
which provides the entrance way into the
Black and White Lodges. (Episode Twenty-Nine)
