Lock of the Week (15-1): Tennessee over Houston
All the way back in week #2 Clarkie lost his only game when Tennessee fell to the Cowboys. Since then I've reeled off fourteen straight wins. What the hell am I so proud of - these are locks! This week those damned Flaming Thumbtacks head back to Texas to play the other bad team...only these are expansion players for the Texans! The Thumbtacks are playing for homefield advantage...the Texans are playing the last game of their inaugural season...this is an easy one to call.
Upset Special of the Week (8-8): Miami over New England
On the road where they are 3-4 for the season against the Super Bowl Champion Patriots in what will probably be pretty harsh conditions. Last time they did that (Buffalo), they got trampled by the Buffalos. Oh yeah, Ricky ran for over two hundred yards and the Patsies have difficulty stopping the run. Watch as the Maestro connects on some long gainers with McMichael and Chambers.
Tip of the Week: Many Players have a "BYE" this Week
For all you Fantasy Leaguers playing for your championship this week watch out for Players that have a BYE this week. Teams that cannot improve their playoff positioning may opt to rest their star or injured players this week...a la Terrell Owens. Expect Jeff Garcia and Garrison Hearst to get some rest if Tampa Bay wins this week.
Game to Stay Away From: Green Bay @ NY Jets
With Tampa's loss on Monday Night, Green Bay can get a bye in round #1 with a win. If Philly loses to the Giants on Saturday, the Pack can wrap-up homefield throughout the playoffs with a win on Sunday. The Jets are fighting for their playoff lives. A loss and they're out. A win and a Dolphins loss and they win the East. Too much going on here with a lot at stake...steer clear of this wreck if at all possible.
Player(s) to Watch:
Clinton Portis, RB, Denver
The Broncos need help to get into the playoffs and will be going with a back-up QB on Sunday. Portis will see his share of action against a sub-par defense.
Peyton Manning, QB, Indianapolis
A win and they are in the playoffs. The Jags are susceptible to the pass. Manning has the best WR to play the game since Rice was in his prime. Harrison will be shooting for catch number 150 in this game...mark my words!!!
Ricky Williams, RB, Miami
Expect a lot of carries and a lot of short passes and screens. He's their best player and they need this win in a real big freakin' way.
Michael Strahan, DE, NY Giants
It's Runyan vs. Strahan. Strahan vs. Runyan. A win and the Giants are in. A loss and they need help from the Panthers. Look for the vaunted Giants defense to be pumped for this game.
