| Lock of the Week (14-1): Philadelphia over Dallas As evidenced by Dallas' lack of effort last week against the NY Giants, I think you'd agree with me that the 'Pokes have mailed in the remainder of the year. They are employing the same tactic that the Flyers employed at the end of last season...if we don't play well, our coach will get the axe. They're already talking about Norv Turner in Big D. Oh yeah, this game also means home field advantage throughout the playoffs for the Birds...so don't expect them to mail anything in! Upset Special of the Week (8-7): Jacksonville over Tennessee Expect a shootout in Jacksonville this weekend. Tennessee will be on the road after a short week following a brutal fight on Monday Night against the Patriots. And, believe it or not, Jacksonville (and every other team in the AFC except the Bungles) is still eligible for the playoffs and will be far more desperate to win this game. Tom Coughlin is on thin ice and needs to make the playoffs to assure himself of any hope of being in Florida as a head coach in the NFL. Tip of the Week: Watch those Baltimore Ravens win their division The Ravens play host to the Cleveland Browns this weekend. A victory combined with a Steeler loss on Monday Night in Tampa will set up a clash between the Ravens and Steelers in the final week of the season. The victor of said game would be crowned the division champ. The loser of this game would likely be left at home for the playoffs. A must see game for real fans! Game to Stay Away From: NY Giants @ Indianapolis Both of these teams are fighting for their playoff lives. The Giants will be the more desperate team, while the Colts are at home. A Giants loss sends them home for the holidays. The Colts are tied for their division lead with the Titans. The Titans hold the tiebreaker over the Colts...so the Colts need to win the last two weeks and hope the Titans lose to either Jacksonville or Houston. The way the AFC is shaping up, the Colts could end up on the outside of the playoff picture looking in even if they win 10 games. Tough one to call. Player(s) to Watch: All of the Saints will come marching in this week...into Cincinnati that is...coming off an embarrassing loss to the Vikings at home. Poor Cincy! And, poor Dick LeBeau! Brad Johnson, QB, Tampa Bay The Steelers have been victimized by the passing game during the long NFL season. Johnson has had a few big number games coming down the stretch and Coach Gruden may throw in a few wrinkles to keep the Pittsburgh pass rush at bay. Shaun Alexander, RB, Seattle Hosting a horrible Rams run defense. Not to mention he is the only real threat on this team until they get quality QB play. LaDanian Tomlinson, RB, San Diego The Chargers are fighting for their playoff lives. Plus, did you see what Clinton Portis did to the Chiefs defense last week. The Chiefs may have eliminated themselves last week...although there is still some hope for them. The Chiefs will be without Priest Holmes, too. |
