Lock of the Week (12-1): Green Bay over Minnesota
A few short weeks ago those Norsemen were unpleasant hosts to the Pack. That game was not played on the Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field. This game will be. Expect Randy to take more than his standard 25% plays off as his little toeseys get really cold. Don't be surprised to see Brett Favre explode for a huge game, either...as they prepare to host the Buccaneers in the playoffs in the beginning of 2003!
Upset Special of the Week (6-7): NY Jets over Denver
The Jets are desperate. They must win out if they hope to make the playoffs. Denver, well Denver really aint all that good. Expect this one to be a low scoring, running game battle. Pennington is okay and Griese/Beuerlien aren't bad, but this game will be decided up front...right where Kevin Mawae makes his living!
Tip of the Week: Tampa's Ship is Going Down
The Buccaneers lost a game they had to win last week against New Orleans. The psychological damage resulting from the thought of having to go to Philadelphia or Green Bay in the playoffs will be too much of a drag on these guys the rest of the year. Don't be surprised to see a few more games go in the bad column as this team puts way too much pressure on themselves to win. As if the thought of Michael Vick this week isn't enough pressure.
Game to Stay Away From: Oakland @ San Diego
Expect a lot of LaDanian Tomlinson. Expect a lot of Rich Gannon's short passing game. Expect a lot of hard hitting. But, don't expect Clarkie to give you a winner for this game!
Player(s) to Watch:
Duce Staley, RB, Philadelphia
He should be a workhorse against Coach Andy's mentor Mike Holmgren's crew. In fact, expect all three of Philly's backs to get a lot of work. Duce will get thirty or so touches, Dorsey and Westbrook will each get ten. And, Feely will put in the air no more than 18 times.
Brett Favre, QB, Green Bay
No artificial stuff...no lid on the stadium...no temperature control...no Brett control! The Pack will be fueled by a frenzied Lambeau crowd. The division crown has already been achieved...now it's homefield throughout they're after. Brett will show up for this rematch with huge numbers.
Lions/Cardinals
This game should be fun to watch. Much the same way Mookie's grounder through Buckner's legs was fun to watch. Everybody may score in this game...maybe by accident.
