OCCURRENCE  &  PREDICTIONS

Predictions for Earthquakes and Volcanic activity at the This Edition page.

It does seem that being able to predict the odd earthquake or most of them would not help until and unless we can predict the exact time and location of each earthquake so that we can usefully take precautions for those short moments without disrupting the daily routine of things.

Meaning that the predictions have to be capable of giving the time, place and the nature of effect on the area. Somebody is looking for some serious divination!

This said, it still remains in the realm of nature to state the upper limit and the nature of energy release. Main tectonics and fault locations have been identified and most fairly rich countries have been monitoring the outbursts of energy/ information from the movement of the earth's crustal layers.

Therefore, being prepared for the worst has been the design philosophy.

There are those who use all kinds of means to monitor the signals nature can give us to be able to predict earthquakes, including monitoring the behavior of animals.

It should not be ruled out that very accurate measurements of the changes in the geometry of the earth (three dimensions) are being made in addition to detailed monitoring of underground activity. Development of stress points is related to inhibition of movement.

Some predictions for earthquake and volcanic activity are given in the 'This Edition Page'.
