Houston's Rodeo

Every February, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is held at the new Reliant Stadium (pictured in the lower left). As a child, I remember going to the Astrodome to see the show (pictured in the lower right). I remember Cher and Elvis appearing in the show. It was the big event that everyone wanted to go and see.

Now, the Astrodome sits in the shadow of the new Reliant Stadium. When the Astrodome opened in 1965 it was nicknamed the Eighth Wonder of the World. As you can see, the Astrodome it is so tiny compared to the new Stadium which has a retractable roof. Houston also has new National Football League that plays in the stadium: The Houston Texans. Their emblem is pictured in the lower screen.

The Astrodome is now known as the Reliant Astrodome. The Reliant Astrodome along with Reliant Stadium is part of the Reliant Park.
