Chapter 11

Maeglin took note to their arrival near the major city on Tusla, Airanaxela. Dropping his altitude, he quickly told Ayla to hold on tight as they dropped through the canopy of the trees. It was a beautiful landing and the brunette easily slid of as soon as Maeglin told her it was safe.

"It is only about half a mile from here to the city. Sorry... I... couldn't..."

Maeglin just stopped his words as he watched Ayla playing with the birds, heading in the direction of the city. He just laughed, it was very pained laugh, her actions reminded him too much of Teshyra. Shaking himself free from his depressing thoughts, he turned and followed her. //What funny things the birds have to say.// Ayla found that she was happier here. A tear fell on the small bird she was holding. It chirped and looked up at her but she just gave it a smile.

"So why did we have to land so far away?"

The cheerful girl asked with a green glance to Maeglin.

"Draco's are an extinct race to the modern world."

She blinked a little, a finger running over the soft feathers of the tiny black and white bird she was holding.

Oh...

----

::I see you two just landed, I am glad I was right.:: Jach said from his perch on the courtyard roof. You could spot anything from there as long as you were looking for it. The Cathedral sat up on top of a heavily weathered mountain that looked over the city and surrounding forest. //I finally get to meet you, Milady.// Jach thought to himself as a smile crept to his lips.

Thexous found the two about a quarter mile from the city, Ayla's beautiful voice carried through the woods, a variety of creatures seemed drawn to the tone and were following the two. Thexous chuckled a little as he spied a lone Ruirel sitting on Maeglin's head. /Such a interesting young girl.../ The dark haired draco thought to himself as he followed in the treetops. Ayla continued to sing, oddly, they were hymn's Thexous heard in a dream once. The golden eyed draco gave a deep sigh as he plucked the small mammal from his hair, holding it in his arms as he followed the girl.

::Huginn is dead:: Amarra's voice echoed in the back of Thexous's head. He gave himself a nod. ::Muninn and Vesir are all that's left?:: He questioned softly, gaining an understanding of what still needs to be accomplished. ::Yes.:: She replied, a long sigh followed her anwser. ::Should be easy enough...:: He smirked as he continued on following Maeglin and Ayla.

Her green eyes stared amazed at the city. The first thing you saw as you entered the west side of the city was the huge fountain; behind it were various cream colored homes and wooden kiosks'. Many different races wandered the streets, but only the ones you would call Lightwalkers were out. It was a massive city that Ayla compared to be twice as large as London, not like Maeglin would know what she was talking about.

"It's... Massive!!" Ayla said to the draco as they proceeded into the city. Maeglin's eyes trailed from kiosk to kiosk, looking specifically for those two daggers. Ayla couldn't help but to look around, not at the kiosks' but at the scene, this city had enough beauty to rival Venice or even Rome! Maeglin stopped for a moment to get some food stuffs, while Ayla looked at a small kiosk across from the food shop. Many eyes lingered on Ayla, only because she was dressed in a slightly odd fashion. Maeglin came back out a few moments later, peering over her shoulder, finding her ogling at a pair of what seemed like jewelry trinkets shaped like daggers.

"The Diomes set." The merchant had said, beginning to tell Ayla about them, trying to hook her into buying what he thought was worthless trinkets.

"They were ornaments worn by the last known Elfish Priestess. This one,"

/...Teshyra..../ Echoed in Maeglin's mind as the merchant pointed to the one with the onyx stone.

"Is the Daiki Diomes. And this,"

But before he could point to the one with the diamond stone, Ayla interrupted.

"The Sekido Diomes..." A smile came to the merchants lips.

"Ah... a quite knowledgeable girl, and pretty too."

The old merchant smiled to Ayla, which made her blush slightly taken back by what he said. ::Ask him how much.:: Maeglin's voice echoed into her mind.

"How much?" The merchant looked around, as if he was thinking about a price, his old finger tapping his chin.

"For you my pretty customer, 2 anate."

Ayla smiled sheepishly, waiting for something from Maeglin. ::The money is in your pocket.:: She reached into her pocket and pulled out the bills as the merchant put the trinkets into a small leather bag. They exchanged possessions and Ayla turned to Maeglin, who was standing a bit further away and took the bag from her when she held it out to him. He slipped it into a pouch he wore on his waist, but it was hidden as if part of his clothing.

"Now, on to the clothing shop..."

But Maeglin figured it would be pointless soon. The two headed off down the rows of kiosks' as Thexous followed in the alley shadows.
