I ordered this engine at SPDC with some additional parts.
I received it in France in the end of April 2001.
I went to get it at the importer with the Blake-blake diesel during the
week-end of the 7th of May.
CLICK 2 CThe engine is wrapped in a big plastic bag and placed
in a box of wood which does not look in good shape.
I open the box and begin to search the other parts ordered at SPDC.
I begin to suspect that the Box has been hit on the top
because the left valve cover is damaged.
This explains why the box was broken...
I find the damper, the intake gaskets and ....ARGH!

 The head gaskets are missing!
Maybe SPDC forgot them or, someone, after the hit on the box, has open the bag and throw away
the broken gaskets surely placed on the top of the engine.
The "série noire" that began with the H3423 Pistons ordered at Doug Herbert
and never received, was going on.

Though of this Day:
Despite the Web, Shipping is still THE problem.

Well! beside that, all seems to be OK.
End of the "série noire"...(I hope!)

May the 19th 2001:  The engine is in the workshop.

CLICK 2 CThe engine reachs the workshop in this good old wheelbarrow overused during my house doing up.
The workshop is just finish and has to be fit out yet.
Look at the only Sport V8 wheelbarrow in the world ;o)

Thanks to the neighbor's hoist, I put the engine on the stand engine sold by Mr BOCHE.

Something is missing again: where is this bolt on the left head?
This bolt on the right head....is-it missing on the left head?
No, this is the place for a sender unit

June the 3rd 2001:      Engine is open

CLICK 2 CLet's move on more serious matters:
Engine have been opened and has lost his right head.
How beautiful it is when it's new!

Taking measurement of the engine

Before starting the modifications, I prefer to note the stock dimensions of the engine:
intake ports volume,  combustion chambers volume, piston deck height...
