December 2001: Pistons in the block :

putting the pistons, I grind the return oil holes on the block. This should
improve the return oil to the pan.
Here are the results in this "before-after" serie: |

place the piston/rod assembly into the cylinder bore, I use this cheap
trick:
a bit of 100mm dia. toilet hose slipt open to fit the rings on the piston, and an oil filter wrench to compress them. |

lightly tap on the head of the piston with a mallet handle until the piston
enters the cylinder bore. |
Then I torque the cap bolts checking a connecting rod side clearance
of 0.01".

attention to conversion between ft-lb, Nm and mKg...
45ft-lbx1,356=61Nm and 45ft-lbx0,138=6,2Mkg AND NOT62Mkg!!! ;o) |
