SIMPLY THE BEST IN THE MIDDLE EAST

 

As promised, we now bring you the Championship story of our certified Ka-BOTAK in Bahrain.

 

The team DHL-Express

 

     They rule the basketball court. What’s more, they overrule others by their total get-up package. With BOTAK on their performance, Team DHL Express is a lead player in the tournaments organized by the Filipino Club Basketball Group (FCBG) in Bahrain.

 

     Last year, for yet another record, the team brought home the Trophy for the Reinforced Conference Championship and Interkulay Basketball Tournament. It also placed second in the All-Filipino Conference.

Also in 2005, Team DHL Bahrain was in full colors obtaining the Best in Uniform Award for the Interkulay Basketball Tournament and Reinforced Conference.

 

Rio Crisostomo became the league’s MVP.

 

Other Championship Titles include the following:

 

2000 – All Filipino Conference Championship

1999 – OWWA Sponsored Conference

1999 - Reinforced Conference Championship

1997 - Reinforced Conference Championship

 

The team was also the 3-point Shootout Champs in 1999 and 2000.

 

 

Team DHL Express: UP CLOSE

 

Leo Ignalaga, Olen Francisco and Dennis Cornelio founded the team in 1997. It started to join different tournaments as DHL Flyers in 1998.

 

As Mr. Ignalaga puts it, “until today, Team DHL is a regular participant in tournaments organized by the Filipino Club Basketball Group in Bahrain. Players and coaches come and go yet the team exists to be one of the front-runners in the league.”

 

Its roster of star players includes former PBA player Lowell Briones, former MVPs John Viray and Mon Morales, former Rookie of the Year Cesar Cajayon and Best Imports Khalil Abbas, Mazen Al Majid, and Mohammed Maleeh.

 

FCBG games are scheduled every Friday from 8am – 5pm at the Muharraq Gym in Bahrain.
