VIDEO GAMES
Video games have come a long way in the last twenty years; from Pong, to Space Invaders, to PacMan, to Mario, and now to today with games like Metal Gear Solid and Kingdom Hearts. Over the past decade, video games have actually been treated as harmful, but this is far from the truth.

People choose to see what can be harmful in a video game, whether it be the violence and blood, or the time it makes countless children around the world sit in front of their television for hours. If people would only look, they would see all of the positive influences and effects that video games have on people from children to adults.

Video games are now being used for incredibly beneficial acts such as helping children with learning disabilities, or allowing autistic children to find ways to communicate. There are now numerous games on the market developed by Nintendo such as "Brain Age" that are intended to teach both children and adults, but at the same time, make it into a fun experience.

However, video games are not only positive when it is through education. Like movies, video games can have a strong impact on a human being. They are no longer move, jump, jump, attack. Games are now multi-million dollar projects that take years to develop. They have well developed characters and Hollywood-level stories. Games like Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid have important messages; messages about politics, war, religion, and morals. Through games such as this, the games achieve greatness, but at the same time, lead us as humans on the path to greatness.
