Vincent Riley Tanner, age 29, has lived his entire life in small towns all over the Southwest. Born in Playas, New Mexico, a small rural town located 50 miles north of the Mexico border, Vin learned to speak fluent Spanish at a young age.

Vin's mother, Amanda Leann Tanner, was a kind and caring woman who had simply made too many wrong choices in life. Conceiving Vin at a young age, Amanda did her best to raise Vin despite the hardships the young unwed mother faced. Amanda took ill when Vin was 11, and died shortly after, leaving him an orphan.

Taking to the streets, Vin learned to fend for himself, making money by cleaning up at a local Spanish market. The owner, Jesus Ramos, took pity on him and offered Vin a place in his home to which Vin readily agreed. But Jesus had a large family of his own and when the small town of Playa began to dry up, Vin left, not wanting to cause Jesus any hardship.

Again, Vin took to the streets, leaving Playa and arriving in Durango, Co. A chance meeting with an elderly woman named Nettie Wells took Vin off the streets for good. Nettie offered him a safe place to live in exchange for his help repairing her ailing ranch. With Nettie's guidance, Vin completed high school and eventually went to college. But college life proved too much pressure for Vin, his reading and writing skills not up to university standards.

Instead Vin attended the police academy, excelling in marksmanship. Vin spent several years working for the Durango County Sheriff's Department until Nettie's death. Unable to bare the loss, Vin sold off Nettie's ranch and moved to Four Corners after obtaining a position with the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

Vin is content with his current life. Living alone in a small house on the outskirts of Four Corners, Vin likes to keep a low profile. He isn't much of a conversationist, but has a gentle smile and a good-natured sense of humor. He owns a dark blue Jeep Wrangler and runs a small carpenter business on the side, dealing mostly in cosmetic repairs.
