Ezra Percival Standish was born on June 6, 1971. He has one sister, Drew. His father, Percival, passed away when he was twelve years old. Unlike his sister Drew, Ezra was the apple of both his parents' eyes at that time. Percy loved his son and spent a great deal of time with him. As a boy, Ezra assumed that Percy's lack of attention to Drew was because she was a girl, but he's never been able to determine a different reason. When Percy passed, Maude packed up their belongings, sold their house, and moved to New Orleans. Ezra and Drew were sent away to school, even though Drew was much too young for it.
Unlike Drew, Ezra spent a great deal of his summers as a youth with Maude, who was always involved in some business scheme or the other. He learned to lie and create false ledgers from her. While he was good at this trade, he didn't want his younger sister to be exposed to this portion of their family's history. To Ezra, Drew was always a perfect little angel... someone to be sheltered from the harsher realities of life. She resented him for his time with Maude. And he overlooked Drew's wild side. Despite their differences, or perhaps because of them, the two are very close. Drew looks to Ezra as more reliable and constant than her mother, and he tries his best to live up to that.
Ezra arrived in Four Corners at Maude's behest, expecting to become manager of her latest acquisition--The Standish Grille. However, a bomb threat at an airport caused him to miss a flight, which caused him to be late for their appointed meeting. Never one to wait, Maude gave the job to the bartender when he proved himself capable and then left. Ezra had used all of his finances to get to the town, expecting a job to be waiting for him. Instead, he found himself unemployed and trapped. He soon found employment with the Pima County Sheriff's Department, and works part time as an accountant. Ezra stayed because he found himself free from Maude's support for the first time.
His pride and joy is a sleek black 1965 Jaguar in mint condition and fully restored. He did the restoration himself, but will not brag on it. It is his secret. He maintains the vehicle himself. He has a small house with a garage and a pool near the edge of town.
