William Joseph Wilmington, Buck, is thirty-four years old. He was born in Las Vegas, Nevada to Rose Wilmington, a professional prostitute. He was raised in the brothel where she worked. Buck never knew his real father or who he was. He had a happy childhood and was close to his mother despite her profession. She raised him well.

When he was seventeen his mother came down with breast cancer. She had passed on by the time he reached his eighteenth birthday. Buck did well in school and graduated in the top half of his class. He left Las Vegas after Rose's passing and headed to Los Angeles. Buck had no other family members and was left on his own. Buck has always loved music and learned to play the guitar at an early age. He joined a few rock bands but they never went anywhere. After a few years playing he went on to the rodeo circuit and at age 20 he met Chris Larabee for the first time.

Buck and Chris entered the Police Academy in Phoenix. Buck envied Chris's life with Sarah and adored Adam.

He has been working in Four Corners for the past two years. He has a brother type relationship with JD Dunne and the two were roommates for a short time. Buck now has his own two-bedroom apartment at The Oasis. One room he uses as a weight center. He likes to lift weights, play his guitar, horseback ride, shoot pool with his friends, and flirt with the ladies. Buck has always respected and adored women and has had several girlfriends. He was engaged briefly to Louisa Simmons. It didn't work out but Buck still yearns to some day find the right girl and settle down. He has always dreamed of having a family, but he's never shared this dream with anyone. That is part of the reason things did not work out with Louisa she was not interested in having children or staying in one place.

Buck has a Harley Davidson, an old `78 Ford pickup truck, which he is constantly working on, and a `87 Black Trans AM.
