We just had an experience that we could not let go without comment. It's 11:55 PM Christmas night and the crowd has just departed. Starting about noon we had a few teachers that came to help clean up around the house, but things didn't really get going until about 4:30 when a group of teachers brought chairs and tables and other assorted party material (a stage, a place to hang a sign, decorations, and the all important computer for karaoke). |
| Anyway, a group of about 30 teachers showed up for Christmas dinner Thai style. We managed to share deviled eggs, spiced cider, pin the tail on the donkey (ala pin the star on the tree), and a pinata. They shared their food, and their party style - nothing can happen without an authority figure giving an opening speech that everyone ignores, and the party cannot be complete without lots of karaoke. Then as quickly as they came, they packed everything up and they are gone, with nothing displaced but a few blades of grass. |  |
