| I moulded this figurine of Demi (freehand) some years back and virtually spent the whole night working on it. Dear sweet Demi would have a sleep then pose again each time I needed to try and capture the essence of her beautiful nature. It is always messy working with clay especially when trying to give a reasonably realistic effect to the coat. I used a glass container to give me a base to mould the body shape around, and the coat texture was primarily achieved with a fork. It was put in the bisque only and then hand painted. I was relatively happy with the result although the ears could have been better - a little too exaggerated. However, since losing Demi I found comfort in being able to place this memento of her in the Rumpus Room overlooking the door to her beloved favourite spot on the back step. She sits there surveying the scene and checking out just what Duke and Susie are up to. It is interesting to note that Susie has commandeered exactly the same spot - with Demi's blessing I'm sure. |
