Teaching Philosophy

I graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary and Special Education.  I taught at  KenCrest Services for two years.  KenCrest Services is an inclusive early intervention center specializing in the needs of students with disabilities.  I worked closely with physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists to design educational goals for my students' I.F.S.P's (Individual and Family Service Plan) and I.E.P's (Individual Education Plans).  I then taught at Educare Learning Center, a private school in Philadelphia PA.  I taught Kindergarten for close to three years there.  I am currently attending Arcadia University for my masters degree in Education with a concentration in computers and technology.  This is my fourth year teaching third grade at Brooke Elementary School.

Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy consists of a student-centered hands-on approach to learning.  I believe it is important to actively engage students in their learning.  It not only makes them responsible for their learning, but also motivates them.  I continuously strive to find new and creative ways to peek students' interest in various lessons.  I believe that group work and peer teaching should be an integral part of the learning process as well.   In my classroom you will see students engaged in computer activities, working in small groups, and partcipating in teacher-guided lessons.
