The Battle begins |
|||
The weekend of July 23rd to 24th 2001 saw the Leic-Arrian conflict come to
life. This was a weekend of 40K games during the day and socialising in the
evening at the Bar-b-ques.
Planning had been taking place for the last couple of months with commanders
forging alliances or issuing challenges.
Figures had been bought, vehicles assembled and painted, terrain built.
The web-board was full of alliances and insults, with communications
from the planet surface. Now it was time for battle.
This was the 3rd such weekend I had run and was by far the biggest and most
involved. The brief was simple the Leic-Arrian system was under threat.
All the different commanders had to do was remove the enemy threat.
Sounds easy
... well it wasn't.
With each race and commander having an individual brief no one was sure what the other side was truly after.
The battles would take place on 4 main battle zones
On a mix of table sizes from 12ft x 4ft to 6ft x 4ft, there would be other
battles, but these 4 were to be the main sites of carnage. As it was played
over 2 days the commanders might find them selves assaulting a bridge one day
and defending it a few hours latter.
But the event was a lot more than just gaming it was a social event too, with
a Bar-b-que on the Saturday night in what proved to be a very late night for
quite a few people.
The battles ended on the second day with the dark forces truimphant, leaving the imperium to tend to their wounds and pray to the emperior for forgivenss for their failure.
