Thought for the Day: The Emperor will guide my aimImperial Scribe Telos
Words of Grand Master Fulcrum of the Angels of Death
(Report as requested for the Ministorium on Terra).
START
· Day 1
Initial Reports of trouble in the Leic-Arrous system. 4th Company and small
contingent of the Deathwing in vicinity after training exercise. Request instruction
from The Rock.
· Day 2
Orders received. Investigate and report. Not thought to be a serious problem.
· Day 3
Reported sighting of Eldar in the area
along with their twisted cousins.
· Day 4
Somewhat surprised to see Imperial Battle Barge already in high orbit around
the planet. Identified as a cruiser class of the Angels of Blood. A parley is
organised.
· Day 5
The information of our brother Marines clarifies the problem. This Imperial
planet has been evacuated. The scum of the Orks are in possession and the Eldar
also claim some long lost ownership. They will both be re-educated.
· Day 6
No time is wasted. Via Thunderhawk dropship the Angels of Death and Blood assault
the Ork-held industrial centre. Little resistance is met and the objective is
quickly secured. However, there was a reported sighting of the infamous Ghazghkull...our
orders are too pursue.
· Day 7
The Imperial forces all report heavy losses. The Guard armies turn traitor.
They will pay.
· Day 8
After ambush by the Eldar, our expeditionary force is weak indeed. Still we
respond to reports of Ghazghkull to the North.
· Day 9
Finally Meet the Orks. Outnumbered by at least 10 to 1. Despite stern resistance,
the Orks take the field. With reports of Imperial losses throughout the planet,
plus the continuing treason of the Guard, I shamefully sound the retreat.
· Day 10
I submit that the planet holds much more than it seems. This time we lost. Next
time will be different. I pledge my life
END TRANSMISSION
Two days and two nights of gaming.
Two barbecues.
3 Battles.
1 win, two losses.
A sun tan.
These are just some of the things that I came away with from the weekend of 40k gaming. I took my 2000 pts worth of Dark Angels into the unknown, and they didn't do too badly, although things could have gone much better
for instance
Chaplain jumping onto difficult terrain, and killing himself.
Assault marines killing themselves 75% of the time when using plasma weapons.
Terminators failing on a 2+ 11 times in 19 rolls of the dice.
Assault marines proving intractable, and deciding that shooting with bolt pistols was a far better idea than assaulting any day.
But life wasn't all bad.For the first game myself and fellow marine player Adam had a plan, and we won. Life was good, bolters found their mark and even a few Terminators made their armour saves
here are a few of the luckier moments
Dreadnought surviving 17 hits from brightlances and scatter lasers
Ghazghkull running away
Zzap gun rolling 2 to penetrate.
So overall, we played games. We got fed. We all hated the Eldar. On Sunday we
all hated the Guard and we all sympathised with Adam as he had to take a long,
long walk towards Stu and his very smug tanks on Pegasus bridge.
Roll on next year.
"Anything but a one, anything but a one noooooooooooooo"
"A Wraithlord has toughness what?"
"C'mon it's a grot, what's it going to do?"
"What do you mean the Guard have defected?"
