With the announcement of my candidacy for
President, the Union Preservation Party has
unleashed the first real volley--not of
shot--but, rather of ideas in this, the
all-important, figurative "battle" for
leadership of the United States. After all, it
will be ideas, borne of the diversity that this
great land offers from all corners, that will be
the true advantage we will have in the coming
struggle where the battles will be very real,
indeed. My platform--my ideas--are simple and to
the point. First and foremost, as members of the
Union Preservation Party, we believe that our
country cannot hope to achieve military success
if we do not support the War Department and, in
so doing, our common cause for victory. But,let
me be clear, just as a true leader
|
does not
dictate from above, support from the citizenry
does not imply unquestioning obedience to the
White House.Unity is derived by working together
and by logical debate among rational people. I
fully expect--and desire--to have the
representatives of the people give their input
on the decisions I would have to make and the
directives given to the War Department. I can
promise you that all ideas will be heard and
considered. Secondly, just as we need every
voice to be heard, we need every citizen's
talents and involvement--from the White House to
the officers on the front line--for we must marshall
all of our collective brainpower if we hope to
prevail. Therefore, each and every soldier and
statesman will be allowed to exercise his right
to contribute as much as he can and to
rise to the level |
of
responsibility he me-rits, based on his
abili-ties. If I lose this election based on
these simple ideas, then I believe that we al l--as
a country--stand to lose much more, for I know
that these two tenets are the winning
ingredients for victory. If, however, you
believe as I do and elect me as your next
president, then we all win--there are no
losers--save those who would oppose the will of
the people of the United States of America.

Last night New York once again echoed to the
sounds of Union Preservation Party supporters
marching through the streets and showing their
support for the Party which has now become the
largest in the Union by an enormous margin.
Assembling in the centre of the city, a singing,
cheering crowd had to be quieted by stewards to
allow UPP Public Affairs Officer
Carl Williams
to speak. Momentarily overcome by the crowd's
devotion to his Party, Williams paused to wipe
an emotional tear from his eye before beginning
to address them. "Citizens of New York. Citizens
of the Union. Citizens of America itself. I
stand humbly before you tonight to ask for your
support for two people. The first is myself, as
I am pleased to announce that with the support
of this great Party I am intending to place
myself at the disposal of the people of New York
as prospective Governor." Again, Williams had to
pause for some time to allow the crowds to cease
cheering and singing. Flags of the Union and no
few of the State itself made a field of colours
in the afternoon sun. However as they quietened
something seemed to catch his eye and he
beckoned to a gentleman in the front row of the
throng, asking him if he could borrow his
banner. This caused some consternation in the
crowd as they wondered at his motives, but very
shortly afterwards Williams turned back to the
crowd and explained. "My colleagues are
preparing a new banner for you all to view,"
said Williams with a twinkle in his eye. "It
will explain who the other person on behalf of
whom I am asking for your support." At this
point the UPP activists upon the platform

seemed ready, and on cue Williams'
fellow New Yorkers and senior UPP members
General John Burgan and North Star Editor
Richard Wollmarker held aloft the newly painted
banner with a flourish. The banner was a simple,
three word message. "MATHENA FOR PRESIDENT".
More roars from the crowd ensued, the roofs of
New York raised once again. Williams called for
quiet once more, and explained further this
surprise nomination. "The South has tried to
tempt
Mr.Mathena away from support of the Union
many times before, as they have foolishly tried
to do with many of us in this great Party. But
he knows which side has the right in this
grievous dispute, as do we all. In
Steven Mathena we will have a President who will bring
a vast wealth of both political and military
experience to the job of leading our great
nation through the dark times ahead. He will
bring us together for victory, unlike Mr.Frost
who seems determined to break the Union apart
further with his divisive rhetoric." Many boos
and jeers ensued at the mention of the SoF Party
Leader who has just announed his candidacy for
the Presidency. "It is a pity he cannot be here
to see we New Yorkers united in our support for
each other and our Union," continued Williams
with a regretful sigh. "Then he would understand
why he will not win, and cannot ever win with
such rhetoric. And why Steven Mathena and the
UPP WILL!" More delirious bannerwaving and
singing closed the rally in fine style, with all
agreed that New York would lead the way for a
UPP Congress to do the work of prosecuting the
coming conflict against the rebellious South

Standing on the banks of the mighty Ohio,
Col
David "Eagle" Massamore told a cheering crowd of
UPP supporters that, "I have filed my papers as
UPP candidate for the gover-norship of Ohio.
Just a few short months ago I graduated from the
aca-demy just in time to be shipped to Mexico. I
was fortunate enough to be assigned to
Gen Jim
Cha-field's Raiders and was given command of our
ca-valry. I think I proved that newly graduated
officers can play a vital role in any war our nation
faces. That is why I joined Gen Chafield and the
UPP party. As I gaze across this mighty river to
my native home in Kentucky, I realize that we
must take a stand to protect our great nation
against those who would tear her apart.Stand
with me ant UPP as we try to save our nation,
either in Congress or on the battlefield." The
speech ended to a tremendous roar of applause.
This morning from the porch of the modest home

Eric Behler announced his
decision to run for Governor of this great
fertile territory. Retiring from the Army after
the Mexican war General Behler found his way
north in hopes of fulfilling his dream of
exploring new territory. He became the founding
father of a small village on the banks of the
Santa Margarita river. After reading in the
papers of the newly formed political party the
"UPP" he sent a dispatch to his old Army friend
General Jim Chafield Chairman of the UPP and
pledged his allegiance to the UPP. Mr. Behler
announced to the crowd of UPP supporters
gathered at his home "Together we can lay the
foundation to build our hopes and dreams on".
"The UPP will give us the solid foundation to
make those dreams into reality".

Today, standing on the steps of his farmhouse in
St. Louis,
Ben Rice announced his candidacy for
the office of Governor of Missouri. Today, the nation is threatened by those
who preach liberty, but are not interested in
the practice of the idea. Those to the south of
us are more interested in an economic principal
that enslaves, than keep our great nation
together! Ben exclaimed to a roaring crowd. Mr.
Rice represents the Union Preservation Party,
political organization that is sweeping the
nation with their empowering platform. The Union
Preservation Party or UPP encourages staunch
support of the War Department
in the event of a future conflict with the south
and the use of new blood within the government
and military to foster new ideas to bring about
victory. The party thatI
represent wants your support,
pointing to the large congregation in the
streets, But I want your hearts. Continuing, Citizens
of Missouri we are at
a turning point, just as Patrick Henry said over
eight decades ago, the choice of Liberty for all
or Death relates to the situation at hand today.
Many that we will call our adversaries stood
next to us to strike down tyranny. I have plenty
of friends that are going south from my days in
the Marine Corps that I fought with at Chapultec,
Mexico. But that
camaraderie will be gone if they seced from our
great Union! Rice stated. Other candidates will
tell you that they will lead the state to
victory. Other parties will tout theirs will
lead the country to triumph. Only Ben Rice and
Union Preservation Party will crush the
impending rebellion. Citizens I call on you to
cast your vote for me on September 3-5. In
closing remember we must prepare for the worst
and on the can our nation enjoy peace. Rice
confirmed. |
