HOW TO PROTECT YOUR HANDICAP

"I was brilliant. A magic player." ~ Dermot Burke

Magnanimous to a fault or how to protect your handicap for another day. I will give you the facts, you make up your own mind. Sunday the 3rd of June the Intermediate Scratch Cup, Venue Westmanstown Golf Club. Handicap of player in question 12. The round was all but over by the first nine, 9 over and not going anywhere but what happened over the closing nine holes say a lot for our hero. He played immaculate golf only 1 over for the second nine. Not bad I hear you say. Tell me how many players miss a six foot putt on the 18th hole for a birdie and dream of what might have been. As it turned out he won the best net and lost first prize by two?? His handicap stays the same peaking just nicely for Mayo in two weeks time. Funny old game golf. How would you call this one? Check it out with his playing partners on the day, Joe Corrigan and Eamon O'Carroll. What they said was...once bitten...see last years newsletter...twice shy.
