The verdict is in! You can go online, or ask just about any girl (Or gayboy) and you will here it again and again; "Clay Aiken is Hot!!!" Perhaps you will hear that he is sexy, or a heartthrob. In some circles, you may hear some not so "PG-Rated" comments. Matter of fact there have some down right "NC-17" things said about Ol' Clay Aiken!!!! However you put it, Clay Aiken is a "hot item". I cannot say that I am not guilty of my share of lustful thoughts either. Nonetheless, if you take a closer look, some of those sexy thoughts may very well give way to ones of admiration and even heart-warming admiration.
From Raleigh, North Carolina. Aiken has almost overnight became a household name since his stint on American Idol. Though he did not walk away as The Winner of the game, he did win something even more; He won the ability to show the world that someone who follows Jesus can very well make it in the seculiar world without compromising what he believes in. He won the hearts of many from ages 3 to 93. I have read somewhere where somebody of about 40 had not listened to pop in 20 years and said she would listen to anything Clay did
As for those who want to see a more sexy side of Clay, however; I won't be found among them. Yes, I have had my share of lustful thinking for Clay, however, it was before I got hit with this crush. Since I have gone "head -over-heels" I have learned more about him and this has thus set him apart in my mind as more than just a good looking person. I see more in Clay than his just being a hearthrob.
His performance at the Independent concert was absolutely wonderful. No, there were no sensational sets and effects like there were at Britney's concert just short of a month prior. I think it was Clays performance alone that made the show so wonderful. One of the defining elements to me about his performance was that, even though this was -- for all intent and purposes -- a seculiar concert, Clay was not afriad to share about Jesus and his Christianity up there on stage. That alone made this show special to me if not to some degree; insprirational. While he did not make the show come off strictly as a Christian show, his Christian influences did come through and I admire him for that. He demonstrated the beauty of being a Christian in the world, especially in todays pop world where sexual exploitation sells and is almost a prerequisite for making it. That night, it was Christianity meets the world head on and I cannot say that Clay has not had not have some impact. I saw someone holding up a W.W.J.D. sign. I would not find out for a couple weeks afterward that it stood for What Would Jesus Do? I have also read it to say Walk With Jesus Daily.
Another defining difference about Clay is his not being afraid to wear his W.W.J.D. wristband while performing, during his photo shoots and interviews. These things alone have taken Clay beyond an object of sexual attraction as far as I am concerned. Sometimes, things cannot be put into words. While the things I said above do have some influence on how I see Clay Aiken. I cannot completely tell my story of why I see Clay on a different level than just a hearthob, sexy or even a celebrity.
Just for the record I cannot stand the term "Celebrity" because of all the glamour and crap that surrounds it. One drawback about being infatuated with Clay Aiken, is that it has pushed me smack dab right where I hate being all the while I love it! I hate it when I am all thinking my hero can do no wrong, be it Clay Aiken, Lisa Loeb (a mini crush in 1995) or C. Thomas Howell (my last major crush on a celebrity in 1984!). Ok, off my soapbox and back to why I see Clay beyond sexy, hot etc. As I said, sometimes words just don't do. The title of this particular page Too Precious To Even Think About In A Sexual Way is not even my idea. It was said by somebody on Karaoke night at a local gay bar where I went after the concert (see "The After Party"). I was showing everybody my Clay Aiken program and when he saw it he said "He's to precious to even think about sexually." and thats when I also came up with my little slogan for Clay as, "The Most Beautiful Boy On Earth, PERIOD!!!" So while there are both girls and guys who will say Clay Aiken is sexy, hot and such, there are also those who see him as more. I think it's his Christian ways shining through, after all, in the bible it says that those who look to the Lord are radiant (something to that effect). Clay Aiken is definetily radiant
