As in one or two other places where I had a one-night stopover, my time in Queenstown was of necessity brief.
On this occasion I was staying at the YHA, which in Queenstown is nicely positioned right on the lake front. So once I had ensured that I had sufficient food for my stopover here and had cooked an evening meal, I spent such time as I did have exploring along the lake front and taking some photographs. For once it it had been a really nice day and I was able to take some nice evening shots of the lake.
Queenstown is famed for its extreme activities, and probably best known is bungee-jumping. I have to say it does not appeal to me, but I did at least see the bridge from which they do it.
The following day it was to be yet another early start, for the journey down to Invercargill and the ferry crossing crossing to Stewart Island. |
