The Art of Death

 - as Peter Pan says of Death, an awfully BIG adventure !

... is it 'ART' that changes the way we look at this?

The art of death is being able to encapsulate the life of someone and conclude that life's contribution through ceremony, celebration and mourning.

But things are changing. One great UK television programme, the 'South Bank Show', leads the way in celebrating the works of artists that are alive and well - often returning to interview them as they progress their careers.

Such programme makers have an important role to play. Through recording attitudes and allowing the artists time to talk over their works, they raise our awareness of the underlying processes of creative thinking.

We know ourselves at BIG that a loss is hard to balance - adjusting to new ways can often seem an impossibility. Sadly, one of our founders, Jonathan Inglis, died in a crash but happily, there are hundreds if not thousands alive who still hold an ever burning appreciation of his efforts and time in establishing this group.

Candles are often used to light a path for a prayer; we have chosen instead, a piece of Jonathan's work to be emitting light from screens around the globe for as long as our BIG flame continues as an artist-led group.

"What is this Death? - a quiet of the heart?
The whole of that of which we are a part?"  ( - Byron )
