The Art of Communication
'
All the people in the house say "hiiiiiii"!!

When art was a youngster we blew pigments onto the 'backdrop' of cave walls to support the speech and intonations of our storytellers. Now, laptop in hand, we construct virtual movie sets to support our leading avatar actors (not much has changed!). Every move you make we are driven to expand our horizons to meet new terms of reference.

It is the role of  BIG communication artists to explore possibilities and evolve new terms of reference, without the hindrance of yesterdays' baggage.

In 'net-speak', however, we still 'post' messages on bulletin 'boards' and an 'email' can still be sent with a 'bcc' (blind carbon copy?)  to another's 'in-BOX'.

The art of updating is really the art of compounding the best bits and leaving the rest.

KISS ...

'Keep It Simple Stupid'. As communications get faster so international tongues should unify. Even if attitudes are slow to follow, they will not be too many millenniums behind! Art has always gone on ahead as it is often 'stand alone'. However, a simple artist's line that works in communicating sans frontier might take hidden days to perfect. So at BIG, we know better than to make comment on works of Art.

The only thing important to BIG is ... "did it work" ... did it reach and "say something you wanted to say" to another person or group.

If someone sees you looking at Art, and asks you " What does it say to you?", they are asking the most important question in communication.

Art itself is the root of all communication. You need a keen wish to share visions and a knowledge of the techniques. At BIG, we believe we have both.
