ENROLLMENT

It was envisioned by the sponsors of the College, Senator Edgardo J. Angara and Rep. Benedicto G. Miran that ASCOT would primarily serve the people of the province of Aurora, in effect offering courses that would be in total match with the potentials of Aurora's natural resources and its technological needs. With the presence of Mount Carmel College (MCC) in Baler, Aurora already offering mainly Liberal Arts, Education, and Commerce courses, the charter of the College was designed to give attention to the sectors of the Community that will benefit from technologies in food production and agricultural manpower development. Clearly, from the time the College opened its doors to its main clientele, the province welcomed and embraced ASCOT as shown by the number of students who applied for admission in 1994. with limited human and capital resources in its first year of operation, the College had to screen the applicants and admit the most qualified students for the slots available. There was a massive information dissemination campaign to orient the prospective students of the College about the course offerings for the opening year. One impetus during meetings and orientations with the students was the agricultural and technological focus of ASCOT in relation to how the students and their families could very well take advantage of the resources of the College. ASCOT as an intelligent alternative to costly city education was given importance during the process of introducing the institution to the overall community. In its first 6 years in operation the following table shows a summary of total number of students in the college enrolled in the first semester each year from 1994 to 2000.
