Shoe Care
A dancer's shoes say alot about
the dancer. You can save money if you take care of your ballet slippers
and pointe shoes by following these simple steps...
*Carry all shoes in a mesh
or cotton bag so they dry out
*By leather/satin shoes instead
of canvas, they dry quicker!
*Always dry out shoes with
a cloth or towel
*"bind" pointe shoes with care-be
gentle!
Leotards and Tights
To keep your leo's and tights
around awhile
longer you should practice
keeping them in good condition...
*Hand wash leo's and tights
after EVERY dance class!
*Don't over wear the same leo/tights
to dance class you'll only
wear them out quicker
*If tights get a hole and them
don't throw them out yet! simply
apply a dab of clear nail polish
to the hole to stop it from
spreading-or you could just
sew it!
Stretching and Muscle care
Every dancer experiences it-
The painful ouch that comes
from a pulled muscle in the leg,hip
and even pelvis region,but
this can be prevented and treated...
*Stretch your muscles before
every class no matter what. Follow
class with a cool down
*Don't over do it in class, take
new things at a slower pace,
especially if you're learning
the splits!
Pulled Muscle... If you already
have a pulled muscle than you're probably in extreme pain here's how to
cope...
*Apply heat/cold it actually
depends on the person
*Try to stay off the pulled
muscle if possible-it'll only make itworse if you stay on it
*Slowly try to stretch the
muscle by applying firm but gentle pressure to the affected area. |
