She looked in the mirror , her reflection stared back Concentration was lost, her mind was off track The study papers were scattered across her desk She couldn't think properly, her head was a mess A guy she'd known since she was a kid told her he loved her, when she didn't think he did It took her by surprise, he took her by the hand Told her again so she'd understand Hard to believe it was all so true when he said "I've fallen in love with you" She smiled that sweet smile that he loved to see he asked "Do you feel the same for me?" Lost for words, she couldn't reply Head in her hands, she started to cry He held her tight, like she'd never felt before "I'll tell you my feelings for you once more" He raised her head , stared into her eyes and repeated the words that took her by surprise.. . "Do you remember the time we both played in the park Started to walk home, as soon as it got dark I walked you to your house, and as we said our goodbyes I realised I was staring straight into your eyes There was a sparkle, that shone in the Night I gave you a hug and it just felt so right You returned the gesture by kissing my cheek and told me you'd see me sometime that week I walked home alone, and thought about our day Couldn't wait for the next time you came out to play I lay in my bed, staring at my ceiling Tried to get used to the way i was feeling The next time I saw you, everything was okay I was worried incase I'd scared you away Days then weeks, then months flew by Always wanted to date you, but didn't even try We soon lost touch, but the love was still there I fell for you, but you weren't aware the next time I saw you, you were with some guy I saw him kiss you, and wanted to cry Couldn't believe I'd let you go I should've at least just let you know But here we are now, and I'm telling you straight I'd like it if we became more than mates 7 years i've liked you, and wanted romance Now I've said it....I've taken a chance" She listened to each word and didn't know what to say Deep down she'd always longed for this day He never knew that she'd felt it too And for those 7 years, she'd always felt blue Now during this perfect moment in time She was unable to say that one line What was she scared of? He waited for a reply But she couldn't tell him, although she did try She shook her head, as she looked to the ground So he walked away, without a sound... She passed him last week, he didn't even look up she watched him walk away, feeling so hurt Hand in hand with a girl with blonde hair He hadn't even noticed her standing there Together they walked through the centre of town She watched from a distance, feeling so down Ran home and cried for hours on end She loved him, how could she pretend? Now he's with someone that he loves dearly so Her feelings for him, he'll never know She pushed all her study notes into a pile Looked into the mirror and tried hard to smile Unable to crack even the slightest grin Upset and lonely was the girl within She sat by the window, looked up to the sky Held a teddy to her chest and had a good cry. |
: About this Poem :
This one is about myself and a male friend whom I've known all my Life. We were the best of friends when we were younger, but as we grew older, feelings changed and we both realised we liked each other more than mates.
