Captain James T. Kirk
Commanding Officer
Born and raised in Iowa on earth, Jim Kirk was one of the youngest officers to become Captain in Starfleet, mostly based on his command skills and unorthodox style. Kirk was the only cadet to ever pass the Kobayashi Maru test at the Academy; his solution to the no-win simulation was to alter the computer systems to provide another alternative. Kirk was given command of the starship Enterprise to embark on a 5-year mission. Kirk became close with his crew, most notably his Vulcan science officer Spock and Dr. McCoy. Kirk became popular in Starfleet by his encounters with Klingons, Romulans and several other species and anomalies. After his tour of duty ended, Kirk was promoted to Admiral and given a desk job at Starfleet Command. After he learned of a threat towards earth, he urged Starfleet to give him command of a newly refitted Enterprise to save earth. Years later, Kirk took command of the Enterprise once again when an enemy from his past, Khan, hyjacked the USS Reliant and went after the Genesis device. After defeating Khan, Kirk returned with his former love and his son (who worked with Genesis) to Spacedock. Enterprise was damaged and scheduled for decommissioning when Kirk and his crew stole the Enterprise to rescue Spock. Kirk's son was killed on the Genesis planet by Klingons, but Kirk killed the Klingons by setting the self-destruct sequence and destroying the Enterprise.

Captain Spock
First Officer, Science Officer
Spock was born to a Vulcan diplomat and his Human wife, and raised on Vulcan. Spock refuted his Human heritage in favor of the Vulcan suppression of emotion and life by logic. Spock grew up on Vulcan along with a half-brother Sybok, who did not live according to traditional Vulcan ways of life. Spock served in Starfleet on board the Enterprise under the command of Capt. Pike as well as Capt. Kirk, as a ommander and science officer. Spock left Starfleet when the Enterprise went into Spacedock, deciding to return to Vulcan to purge himself of any remaining emotions and achieving Kholenar. Spock felt a yearning to return to the Enterprise, though, and left to meet up with his former crewmates. Years later, Spock had been promoted to Captain and was working with a group of trainees on the Enterprise, including protege' Saavik. When the Enterprise was damaged by Khan and the crew and ship in danger, Spock sacrificed himself to get the engines online so the crew could escape. Spock did, however, transfer his mind and memories to McCoy via mindmeld. Spock's body was found on the Genesis planet, and had regenerated. Kirk was later able to reunite Spock and McCoy on Vulcan so Spock's mind could be restored to his newly-restored body.

Commander Leonard 'Bones' McCoy, M.D.
Chief Medical Officer
McCoy came onboard the Enterprise during Kirk's 5-year mission, to serve as the ship's Medical officer. McCoy was close friends with Kirk, but was constantly locking horns with Spock on several occassions. Bones was constantly arguing about Spock's Vulcan ways and his constant use of logic. McCoy left Starfleet when the ship returned to Spacedock, but when Kirk took command of the ship again, he drafted Bones back to serve on the ship. McCoy's personality quirks include crabbiness, worrying and a fear of transporters. McCoy found himself in an ironic situation when Spock mindmelded with the doctor, transferring some of the Vulcan's mind into him. As a result, McCoy was committed until Kirk and the crew broke him out to go find Spock on the Genesis planet.

Commander Hikaru Sulu
Helm Officer
Originally brought on board as a Lieutenant in the sciences, Sulu transferred to become the ship's helmsman on the bridge. Sulu is of Japanese descent although he was born and raised in San Francisco. Sulu was verly likable and got along with many Enterprise crewmembers, especially Chekov who sat next to him as the navigator. Sulu remained on the Enterprise during the ship's refitting and reprised his role as the helmsman. Sulu took a great interest in the new starship Excelsior despite his loyalties to Kirk and the Enterprise. In fact, Sulu was hoping to be posted to the Excelsior after the Enterprise was destroyed. Little did he know what was in store for him a few years down the road.

Commander Montgomery Scott
Chief Engineer
Known by many as Scotty, Mister Scott came aboard the Enterprise as the ship's chief engineer, bringing with him many years of experience and knowledge in the field (he had served on over 11 starships in some engineering capacity). Scotty was involved heavily in the redesign and refitting of the Enterprise, spending almost two years taking the ship apart and putting it together again, while upgrading and updating its systems. When the Enterprise was scheduled to be decommissioned, Scotty was heartbroken that he wouldn't have the chance to repair Enterprise and keep the ship going. Scott was promoted to Captain of Engineering and reassigned to the experimental USS Excelsior. When Kirk planned to steal the Enterprise to rescue Spock, Scotty helped Kirk out by sabatoging the Excelsior so it would be unable to pursue them.

Commander Uhura
Communications Officer
Uhura was a qualified technician and served as the Enterprise's communications officer. She also enjoyed music and was often taking up the hobby and entertaining her fellow crewmates. Uhura experienced many things while on the Enterprise, most notably a tragic event which left her memory erased, forcing her to be reeducated. Uhura remained aboard the Enterprise during her refit and also received a promotion to Commander. Following the Enterprise's return to spacedock she was reassigned to work at Starfleet Command. However, she requested a position in the transporter room so that she could be on hand to help Kirk and the crew beam aboard the Enterprise to take the ship to the Genesis planet. She then left for Vulcan where she rendezvoused with them.

Commander Pavel Chekov
Navigational Officer, Security Chief
The young Russian came aboard the Enterprise one year into Kirk's 5-year mission and served as the ship's navigator, along side Sulu at the helm. Chekov gained a lot of experience and exposure while on the Enterprise, including hallucinations from the Beta XII-A entity, reuniting with lost loves, and remaining untouched while his crewmates aged rapidly. Chekov stayed with the ship during its refitting, although he relinquished his navigator position and focused on security and tactical. Chekov was promoted and took the first officer position on the USS Reliant, which stumbled upon an angry Khan. Chekov was under the influence of Khan and had to fight to keep his sanity and keep his allegiance to Kirk. Kirk finally rescued Chekov when he was left on Regula One. Chekov went with Kirk to the Genesis planet to get Spock.

Yeoman Janice Rand
Captain's Yeoman
Yeoman Rand was Kirk's yeoman during the early years of his 5-year mission on the Enterprise. She left the vessel but returned a few years later when the Enterprise was refitted, this time serving as the ship's transporter operator. Rand travelled to different posts and assignments, and was serving at Starfleet Command at earth when the Enterprise returned from Khan's battle. Years later, Janice had been promoted and was serving on then-Captain Sulu's USS Excelsior as a senior officer and communications chief.

Christine Chapel
Nurse, Medical Officer
Nurse Chapel gave up a promising career in the sciences in order to serve on the Enterprise. She had hoped to reunite with a lost love, but their reunion wasn't what she expected. While serving on the Enterprise under Dr. McCoy's supervision, Chapel developed a crush on Spock. Her feelings weren't revealed until she admitted the truth under the influence of the Psi 2000 virus. When the Enterprise returned to spacedock, Chapel returned to Starfleet Medical to obtain her medical degree. She returned to the refitted ship as a doctor on the medical staff, much to McCoy's surprise. Doctor Chapel later served at Starfleet Command on earth.
