Little is known about the 3rd Federation ship to bear the name. The Enterprise-B was launched in 2293 under the command of Captain John Harriman. The ship was thrown into action during its maiden voyage which was only supposed to take the ship on a cruise through the solar system. Instead, the vessel was sent at warp speed to rescue 2 El-Aurian transports which were caught in the Nexus. The Enterprise-B hadn't even been finished yet (the medical staff had not arrived, the torpedoes hadn't been loaded and the tractor beam hadn't been installed). The ship received damage during its rescue, including a massive hull breach on decks 13-15 near the deflector dish. It is unclear what happened to the Enterprise after the maiden voyage but it was likely in service for a long time, since the next Enterprise would not be comissioned until the 24th century.
