MARTIN FERRIS

Martin Ferris
is forty four years old and is married with six children. Martin is a native of Churchill and is now
residing in Ardfert, County Kerry. He has been an active republican since 1970 and has been jailed
on three occasions for his political beliefs. He was jailed for ten years in 1984 when he was captured
on board the Marita Anne.
Martin is a member of the Sinn Féin's Ard Chomhairle (National Executive)
and part of the Sinn Féin negotiating team and has participated in party delegations which met with the
Irish and British governments. He has travelled extensively in support of the peace process.
He
was elected to Kerry County Council and Tralee UDC in 1999 and is the candidate in the general elections
in the 26 Counties,
Martin has been involved in community development in North Kerry for many
years and has worked tirelessly on many issues, including working with the community to tackle the growing
drugs problem and highlighting the need for a co-ordinated response to long term unemployment in the
county.
