Born of an amalgamation in the
1970's of the Belfast based Republican News , and the Dublin based An Phoblacht, the paper now operates
under the title An Phoblacht.
It offers people an independent view of the political and social
issues at the heart of society both in Ireland and oversees.

An Phoblacht gives readers the most up to date information on the Peace Process and campaign
issues, while informing people of the ongoing work in which Sinn Fein is involved.
It also carries
reports on sport, films, TV, radio, the Irish Language, and the medis. It features the the world famous
political cartoonist, "Cormac".
