2005/2006 NATIONAL SCHOOL CHESS CHAMPS REGULATIONS

FORMAT

 

NEW 2ND ROUND SHCEDULE FOR THE 2005/2006 RBTT NATIONAL SCHOOLS CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS

At the end of the preliminaries, the first placed team from each of the eight (8) Zones indicated have advanced directly to the Round of 16, where they will be ranked again, this time based on their performance (percentage score) during the preliminaries, the strength of the opponents that they faced and the average JCF rating of their team. This Group of first placed teams will be called ‘Pool A’.

"POOL C" 3rd place teams playoff -Jan 21, 2006

At the end of the preliminaries, all third placed teams from each Zone will play in a three (3) round Swiss tournament to identify the top two third place teams. This Group of third place teams will be called ‘Pool C’. This Tournament will be called the "POOL C" match and will be played on January 21, 2006 at the RBTT Headquarters in New Kingston starting at 10:00am.

"POOL B" 2nd place teams playoff -Jan 28, 2006

Once the Pool C Swiss Tournament has been completed, the top two third place teams will join all the second place teams from each Zone to form ‘Pool B’. Pool B will engage in a one-day, four (4) round Swiss Tournament to identify the top 8 from this group, who will go on to face the Pool A teams in the Round of 16. This Tournament will be called the "POOL B MATCH" and will be played on January 28, 2006 starting at 10:00am, at the Montego Bay Community College.

ROUND OF 16 PAIRINGS february 4, 2006

8. The Round of 16(SCHEDULED FOR February 4, 2006 AT 11AM) is a knock-out format which will be paired as follows:

2 #2 Team from Pool A vs #7 Team from Pool B
3 #3 Team from Pool A vs #6 Team from Pool B
4 #4 Team from Pool A vs #5 Team from Pool B
5 #5 Team from Pool A vs #4 Team from Pool B
6 #6 Team from Pool A vs #3 Team from Pool B
7 #7 Team from Pool A vs #2 Team from Pool B
8 #8 Team from Pool A vs #1 Team from Pool B

QUARTER-FINAL PAIRINGS FEBRUARY 11, 2006

9. The eight (8) winners from the Round of 16 will move on to the Quarterfinals,

10. The Quarter Finals (scheduled for February 11, 2006 at 11 am) will be paired as follows:

2 Winner R16 Match 2 vs Winner R16 Match 7
3 Winner R16 Match 3 vs Winner R16 Match 6
4 Winner R16 Match 4 vs Winner R16 Match 5

SEMI-FINAL PAIRINGS, FEBRUARY 18, 2006

11. The four (4) winners from the Quarterfinals will move on to the semifinals (scheduled for February 18, 2006 at 11 am) which will be paired as follows:

Semifinal #
1 Winner Q Match 1 vs Winner Q Match 4
2 Winner Q Match 2 vs Winner Q Match 3

FINALS SCHEDULED FEBRUARY 25, 2006


12. The finals will take place between the winner of each semifinal match.


13. Colours played by teams will be determined based on various factors, in particular traveling.
