HOW DID THEY REPRODUCE?

The dinosaurs belonged to the reptile family and they laid eggs as the reptiles and birds do today.

A dinosaur egg, depending on his species, could measure up to 12 inches (30 cm). Its shell was hard and waterproof to protect the growing baby. These eggs were laid in nests.

What do you think a dinosaur mum was like? The dinosaur mum used to take care of her eggs. She covered them with thick layers of plants to keep them warm. She was also always alert to keep her eggs save from robbers. After a few weeks, the dinosaur baby was ready to break the shell and go out.

The young dinosaurs would probably stay with the herd all their lives. Being in groups was the best way to defend themselves against the meat-eating dinosaurs which were always looking for meat. Most of the dinosaurs that lived in herds were peaceful plant-eaters.

The dinosaur babies used to walk safely between their parents. At night, there were always a few dinosaurs that stayed awake and alert to take care of the others.
