THE DINOSAURS
Once upon a time, there was a giant animal called dinosaur. It was very big, and could measure between one and thirty meters long. There were more than 350 types of dinosaurs.
One of the first dinosaurs appeared 230 million years ago in the "Valley of the Moon", which today is the north of a country called Argentina in South America. These dinosaurs moved quickly to attack their victims. They were meat eaters.
The dinosaurs lived on most parts of the Earth. The dinosaurs belonged to the reptile family. The reptiles were the first to have backbones. All the dinosaurs lived on land and laid eggs.
The Earth's climate during the dinosaur's era was different from the climate of today. The days were a few minutes shorter; the sun's radiation was weaker; the
weather was warmer, and there were no polar ice caps. Can you imagine a dinosaur making a snow man?..
The world was also different. All the continents that we know today formed one big one called Pangaea (all lands), and all the oceans were one called
Panthalassa (all seas). The Earth had many changes during millions of years until the actual continents were formed.
