So one day in kindergarten a guest teacher came to visit and asked all the students to think of things that are
UP. Immediately the first thing that came to my mind was the Upper Mantle. So I raised my hand in excitement because I thought I had a good answer. But then I realized that the Crust is the topmost layer, even above the Upper Mantle. Wow! If anything is up, its gotta be the Crust! So I raised my hand to say the Crust.
It took awhile for the teacher to call on me. She seamed to be calling on everyone else except for me. The answers that other people gave were things like: the sky, clouds, the sun, stars, the moon, airplanes, hot air balloons, skyscrapers, lightning, helicopters, meteors.
     Then
finally the teacher called on me and I said, The Crust. The teacher looked puzzled and said, Well, I guess if you took a pizza crust and threw it up in the air.

Now, at this point I wouldve gladly explained myself, but you see, it took
so long for the teacher to call on me that by the time it was finally my turn to answer, I had totally forgotten how I had even come to that conclusion.
And besides, with the way the teacher responded, I felt totally stupid and embarrassed for not giving a normal or shallow answer like the rest of the students. So I dont know if I would even be
able to give my reasoning even if I could remember it. And you know how it is when you get put on the spot. All of the sudden your mind goes blank and then youre just left staring like a dear in the headlights.

People say that I am a really deep thinker. They say things
like, Youre so deep, Nathan. But, you see, I dont agree with
that. Im not a deep thinker. It just seems like Im a deep thinker
because everyone else is so shallow.

Now, supposedly, Im just a little bit too deep for some people, and so they have a hard time understanding me.

When I was in kindergarten I watched a cartoon called The Muppet Babies, where the Nanny taught the Muppets about the layers of the earth. First of all, there is the Inner Core, and then around that there is the Outer Core. Then the layer on top of that is the Lower Mantle, then the Upper Mantle, and then the very topmost layer, not to mention the thinnest layer, is called the Crust. The Crust is the part of the earth that you and I all live and walk on.
