Your Adjustment

Are you a good parent?  Do you try to provide your child with their material necessities?  That's great if you do!  Now, do you also try to co-parent with their other parent?  Hmmm.....

Do you think an adult child of divorce (or born out-of-wedlock) will remember that movie you didn't take him/her to as a child?   Probably not. BUT:

bulletDo you think they'll remember the time you didn't let them see their dad?
bulletDo you think they'll remember that they had to hide their feelings for their dad, stepmother, siblings, to spare your feelings?
bulletHow about the time you bad mouthed their dad?
bulletHow about the tension in the air when daddy came to pick them up?
bulletHow about the dirty looks you threw your daddy's way or his new family's way?

Have you done any of this? What kind of memories are you giving your child?  What kind of example are you setting? What are you teaching them about love, forgiveness, moving on and living life fully and happily?

These kinds of things can wound a child deeply and leave a lasting, unpleasant memory.   Don't do this to your child.
