Meet Mizuno Ami, a.k.a., Sailor Mercury, the Senshi of Water and Ice.
Sailor Mercury is sometimes considered the weakest and most unattractive Senshi there is. However, I happen to disagree... Even though Merucry may seem unattractive in some of the ealier episodes of Sailor Moon, her apperance definately improves later on. It all depends on what artist is drawing her. Her attacks might not be as strong as some of the other Senshi, but that doesn't make her a poor soldier at all. She never holds back in battle, and her brain power is a major element in the Sailor Senshi's successes.Ami's father, a dedicated artist, left when she was just a little girl. This is one of the heartaches that Ami must overcome, and it's probably one of the reasons why she is so quiet and shy in school. Since her father left, Ami has been living with her mother, who is a doctor. Ami dreams of becoming a doctor just like her mother. She wants to help and protect people, as well as her fellow Senshi. She would sacrifice herself for the others, and may sometimes believe that they are of more use than she is.
Mercury's attacks become stronger later on in the series (as opposed to the silly "Bubble Spray"). She also becomes more open, and fun-loving after being friends with Usagi and the others for so long. She's also a special member of the team because she, unlike the others, has a visor and mini computer for analysis in battle.
