Sailor Mars' other identity is Hino Rei, or just Raye in the English version. Rei lives and works in the Hikawa Shrine with her grandfather, a short half blind perverted old man. She has an interesting secret power that is noticable even before she becomes a Sailor Senshi, and she can look into the Sacred Flame for signs of what's to come. In the manga, Rei's dream is plain and simple: to become Chief Priestess of the Hikawa shrine. She's also a master in archery, which shows in her attack "Mars Flame Sniper."

There are a few things not to like about Rei's character... first of all, she's the meanest of all to Usagi (behinds Kou Yaten perhaps). She's always picking on her, calling her an idiot, and arguing with her. Second of all, she's a bit arrogant and sometimes sees herself better than other people. Third of all, she's bossy (usually a trait more shown in the anime). Half of the time, she doesn't think Sailor Moon is fit to be the leader of the Senshi.

Even though Usagi and Rei fight, it's only because they are like sisters. She also stays away from Mamo-chan when she finds out that he and Usako were meant to be. As you might know by now, some things are different about Rei in the manga. She doesn't fight with Usagi physically and never has any interest what so ever in Mamoru. Neither does she doesn't have any interests in show business like she does in the anime. This kind of makes up for how much her personality can be pretty icky in the anime. Also, in the manga, Rei has two pet crows named Phobos and Deimos that have a much bigger role than in the anime. They are like her gaurdians.
