Sue Ofield - My first awareness of SAI came when I was a junior at the University of Houston.  The chapter there had invited female music students to a “get acquainted” party to introduce non-members to the fraternity.  I was impressed by the girls who were members and their apparent enthusiasm in sharing about SAI and what the sisterhood meant to them.  But even more I was intrigued by the group of interesting and active alumnae who were at that meeting.  They were still full of the desire to spread the joy of being a part of SAI so many years after they were initiated into a college chapter.  This obvious love of SAI was still burning in their hearts and they felt it was important to continue the life of the fraternity and pass its principles on to yet another generation.  Something that inspired this joyful effort surely must be something very valuable!  I wanted to have that same treasure when I reached that place in my life.  I was initiated by Beta Pi Chapter on April 22, 1956 and have enjoyed the privileges of membership in the Houston Alumnae Chapter for the years since graduation.  The friends I have known through the years, the musical experiences I have enjoyed and the outreach of the greater organization are a priceless possession and a source of great pride. What a wonderful thing it is to be part of the “Daughters of a Great and Singing Nation”.
