History
In January 1947 a group of Houston ΣAI’s met in the home of Helen Lasley to work towards the formation of a chartered alumnae chapter. There was a musicale at each of the early meetings and the members were filled with enthusiasm as the talked of projects which included sponsoring musicales at Stower’s, radio programs and music therapy at the Naval Hospital. On the evening of April 29, 1947 the chapter was installed by National Vice-President, Annelle Chandler, at the Warwick Hotel.

Local Projects and Traditions
In Fraternity Life:
Honor Incorporation Day at our Christmas Dinner meeting.
Financial and moral support of the Beta Pi and Zeta Delta Chapter.
Present the Katy Dixie Memorial Scholarship to a local undergraduate member annually.
Founder's Day Picnic
In Music:
Annual American Musicale presented for the public.
Presentation of Music Leadership Award to person who has contributed to the development and quality of music in Houston.
Service project dedicated to the field of Music Therapy.
For a Strong Future:
Contributions to ΣAI Philanthropies.
Past projects include joint musicales with both Mu Phi Epsilon Alumnae and Houston Bay Area Alumnae Chapters, Bold Note Project/Large Print Songbooks, local contributions to musical groups, and Book or Score Memorial made to a library upon death of a member.
