NITA LYNN (Cullom) HUMPHREYS, 73, a homemaker died Monday, March 7, 2005 in Fort Worth, Texas. She was the widow of William R. Humphreys. Born on January 22, 1932 in Port Arthur, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Susie (McCann) Cullom. Anita attended the University of Houston with the goal of performing as a pianist on the concert stage. In 1957 she married the love of her life, William R. Humphreys, and the couple was blessed with one daughter, Lynne. Anita continued to pursue her love of the piano for many, many years. She was a Houston resident from 1950 until 2002, and a devoted and active member of the First Christian Church of Houston. Anita was also a charter member of the Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity and was active in that group until only a few years ago. Besides her husband and parents, Anita was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret B. Cullom. She is survived by her daughter, Lynne Humphreys Von Roeder and husband John, and grandson, Evan William Johnson; all of Fort Worth.Published in the Houston Chronicle on 3/8/2005.

NANCY FLORENCE VACOHON (Nee MCCRACKEN) passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 following a brief illness. Florence was born September 14, 1923 in Waco, TX to Paul and Vivian McCracken. She was an accomplished singer and taught voice for many years at the high school and university levels. Florence leaves behind her devoted husband of 48 years, Ellsworth Vachon, two sons, Ellis III and wife Patti, Ron and wife Anne, and 4 grandchildren, Matt, Tim, Nick and Libby. A service was held in Houston at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church followed by a reception. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco the following day. Those desiring may make a contribution to Sigma Alpha Iota for music scholarships.
