MARY STORRS ANDERSEN studied voice at the University of Michigan School of Music and went on to study and teach in Berlin.  While there she became engaged to the eminent U. S. musician, Arthur Olaf Andersen.  They were married in America and subsequently returned to Berlin to continue their classes.  A year later they returned to Chicago, where Mary became Patroness of the Gamma Chapter.  Later, they moved to Tucson when Mr. Andersen was appointed as Professor of Theory and Composition at the University of Arizona.  They had three children, one of whom became Patroness member of the Alpha Beta Chapter of the University of Arizona.  Ms. Andersen passed away at her home in Tucson, Arizona on the 25th of November in 1946.

ELIZABETH CAMPBELL was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to parents who were both musical and college trained.  She graduated from the University of Michigan School of Music and later did postgraduate work, along with becoming an assistant voice teacher, with Dr. William Howland of the School of Music.  Due to her mother’s illness, however, she was forced to resign this position in 1909 and became Recorder of Transcripts in the College of Engineering at the University. During the first year of SAI, she was Vice-President of the Alpha Chapter and helped prepare the first constitution and bylaws.  She was instrumental in the installation of the Beta, Eta and Lambda chapters.  From 1913 to 1914 she was the fraternity’s National President, twice the fraternity’s Historian and became Chairman of the Standing Committee on Finance in 1929.  She was also a member of the National Executive Board as Chairman of Finance and Director of Finance from November 1932 until November 1948, a year before her death. Final services were held on September 28, 1949 in Ann Arbor.

NORA CRANE HUNT graduated in 1903 from the University of Michigan School of Music as a contralto and choral conductor, and she served as a member of faculty from 1903 to 1941. Following her teaching retirement she was the Alumni Secretary for the School of Music for ten years. Her home was in Jackson, Michigan until 1912 where she maintained a studio. In addition to her voice work at Michigan, Nora Crane Hunt directed the University Girl's Glee Club for twenty-five years, 1910-1935. In her concert activities, her preference was oratorio. Locally, she directed the choir and sang in the quartet of the First Presbyterian Church. On November 14, 1949, as Nora was preparing to attend an Executive Board Luncheon of the Ann Arbor Alumnae Chapter, death came very suddenly. In 1958, one of the nine new housing units within the Mary Butler Markley Hall, Residence Hall for Women at the University of Michigan, was named after her.
